Disruption of train services during Thingyan

As fewer passengers travel by train during the Thingyan water festival, some of the train services will not run until the festival is over. The train services will resume their normal schedules after Thingyan, Mandalay Railway Station Master U Nyein Maung said. Train maintenance will be carried out during Thingyan from April 14 to 16. “Express trains will not operate for three days from April 14 to 16. Most passengers and workers returning to their hometown travel before Thingyan. Only those who have urgent matters travel during Thingyan. That is why we will stop some train services to carry out maintenance work. “However, not all the train services will be canceled. The regular thrice-daily train between Yangon and Mandalay will only run twice on those days,” said U Nyein Maung.
